Living in Fred Douglas Place for the past 10 years has been one of the best choices of my life People may think downtown living is unsafe but I feel secure and have enjoyed exploring various destinations such as entertainment spots museums The University of Winnipeg restaurants and theatres The Skywalk provides access to medical offices professional offices retail stores and food courts indoors which is especially convenient on cold winter days My home is a one bedroom suite on an upper floor with a semicircular sunroom that overlooks northwest area at night I am mesmerized by all the city lights and can even observe planes landing or taking off from the airport Residents form a tight knit community herealways supportive and caring towards each other This building also has excellent management and maintenance staff which makes it stand out from other apartmentcondolife lease buildings Additionally there are many activities available on our Amenities Floor such as library sessions preCOVID parties movies etc plus we have a fantastic gym open 7 days a week for residents to use My friends family agree that I couldnt have chosen a better place to live than Fred Douglas Place more ... hide ...

Avoid Starlight owned buildings at all costs Theyve been overly expensive since taking over and the rent for a 1 bedroom near the top of the building went from 1200month in 2018 to 1700month when I moved back in 2020 The parking fee which wasnt included with the high rental rate has risen from 30month to an unbelievable 90month and street parking is always 2022-09-14T09:32:16Z
Avoid Starlight owned buildings at all costs Theyve been overly expensive since taking over and the rent for a 1 bedroom near the top of the building went from 1200month in 2018 to 1700month when I moved back in 2020 The parking fee which wasnt included with the high rental rate has risen from 30month to an unbelievable 90month and street parking is always full for some unknown reason The building is located somewhere remote making it necessary to have a car Only three employees are taking care of two large buildings there used to be six workers which was more appropriate The renovations they did were just cheap cosmetic changes they even put a new cover on an old bathroom fan while leaving its loud 70s parts underneath The hood fan blows smoke into the kitchen and the smoke detectors are too sensitive so cooking becomes difficult without setting them off The heating system is falling apart its covers are either missing or damaged plus its electric valve doesnt close up when its supposed to so theres only two modes on and more on As for windows single payne aluminum frames with rotted out gaskets that let bugs inside make for terrible insulation efficiency Sliding glass doors are decrepit as well as blinds that can hardly open due to being jammed up or brittle yellowed plastic pieces Elevators breaking down often has trapped 10 people in one year alone not more ... hide ...
