The buildings here were sold to MetCap, and it is no secret that they are corporate bullies. They are renovating the apartments, but it comes with a price: incessant noise and water shut-offs without warning. To add insult to injury, rent is still being raised. The staff has been cut back, resulting in poorer building maintenance. King was kept on board, but she has been worked beyond capacity. The walls may be concrete but you can still hear your neighbors; moreover, pets are now allowed in the building (which brings extra early barking from dogs and stray cat hair). Despite this being a non-smoking building - people still smoke on their balconies as if their higher rent gave them the right to do so. If given any other option most of us would vacate immediately; as such I cannot recommend these towers nor MetCap services for fear of harassment or eviction for speaking out about the truth.
If you're looking for a place with expensive rent and subpar living conditions, this is it! For a 1 bedroom unit here, you'll be paying $2300. There's little to no property management assistance, and frequent water shut-offs. Renovation noise occurs 6 days a week, as does dust from the concrete repairs that prohibit your use of the balcony. The hallways and laundry room are unclean, as well as the elevators; "inspections" are done without warning; overflowing garbage bins are an issue; cars in the underground “secure parking†get broken into frequently; dogs bark incessantly throughout the day and night; people can get trapped in elevators at times; there is cigarette smoke and marijuana odor present in certain areas; windows leak water intermittently while heat may or may not be available.
Avoid Starlight owned buildings at all costs! They've been overly expensive since taking over, and the rent for a 1 bedroom near the top of the building went from $1200/month in 2018 to $1700/month when I moved back in 2020. The parking fee which wasn't included with the high rental rate has risen from $30/month to an unbelievable $90/month - and street parking is always full for some unknown reason. The building is located somewhere remote, making it necessary to have a car. Only three employees are taking care of two large buildings; there used to be six workers, which was more appropriate.
The "renovations" they did were just cheap cosmetic changes; they even put a new cover on an old bathroom fan while leaving its loud 70s parts underneath. The hood fan blows smoke into the kitchen, and the smoke detectors are too sensitive so cooking becomes difficult without setting them off. The heating system is falling apart - its covers are either missing or damaged, plus its electric valve doesn't close up when it's supposed to so there's only two modes: on and more on! As for windows... single payne aluminum frames with rotted out gaskets that let bugs inside make for terrible insulation efficiency. Sliding glass doors are decrepit asAvoid Starlight owned buildings at all costs!
