The lake at the campground was great but the park itself left a lot to be desired The campsites were cramped and lacked privacy even though my family had reserved in advance and asked for a shaded spot The site advertised many activities such as boat rentals mini golf and horseshoes however there were no planned events during our stay nor was there any advertising for weekend morning activities Renting boats was pricey with a 500 damage deposit plus a 100 6hour rental fee for an old pontoon that had moss growing in it There was also no shelter from the sun The dock conditions were dangerous due to soft boards and instability likewise mini golf posed a risk of falling through the floor As for horseshoes or basketball courts both over sand and grass none could be found The snack bar by the beach was never open during our visit either In addition to not getting what we paid for we had to pay an extra 2 garbage fee per bag when disposing of waste outside of the one bin by the beach We also encountered some shady business practices when visitors arrived they were charged tax even though it wasnt listed on any signs or mentioned upfront not to mention change given in penny candy Firewood cost us 7 too but provided little warmth as it hadnt been properly dried out before being sold Perhaps worst of all is that Lake Kashwakamak has no other private campgrounds available near more ... hide ...
