The location of the building is truly great with a spectacular view The plaster walls and concrete floorswalls make the units relatively quiet compared to other buildings The rent is reasonable given the size and setting of the apartments Unfortunately Homestead the new owner is having difficulty running this place partly because of its poor condition due to inadequate maintenance by former owners but also because they are attempting to computerize the heating system remotely which has been causing issues since springsummer 2022 As renovations take place on rental units this results in constant construction noise for everyone else living thereTenants must pay for electricity but heat and air conditioning are included in their rentbut this does not include electricity used to run radiator fans that blow hotcold air into rooms In addition these buildings are outdated from late 1960s with temperamental systems running heatcooling and hot water so complications arise from timetotime one example being 9 days out of 30 without fully hot water coming out of all taps in MayJune 2022 On top of that half a lobby has been turned into an office space meaning less room for residents to socialize with each otherThe air conditioning functions well when it works properly yet chiller pumps supplying cold water through radiators during summer have become unreliable over recent years meanwhile windows tend to leak which causes paint and plaster around them to fall off as well as water seeping into concrete ledges and more ... hide ...

The motor inn was a great deal for the price providing amenities like a refrigerator microwave bathtub and two chairs The staff was friendly and the rooms clean enough They allowed pets with an additional fee and our dog found all of the places that the vacuum missed For this place to be even better they should take out carpets on the second floor my socks w 2022-11-06T07:32:17Z
The motor inn was a great deal for the price providing amenities like a refrigerator microwave bathtub and two chairs The staff was friendly and the rooms clean enough They allowed pets with an additional fee and our dog found all of the places that the vacuum missed For this place to be even better they should take out carpets on the second floor my socks were disgustingly filthy after walking around in there so I had to keep my shoes on in our room All necessary outlets were within walking distance plus there was complimentary Keurig machine and cable tv available It wasnt too hot upstairs either we just opened up a window if it got too warm outside The highway noise wasnt noticeable either it was quiet overall without any issues with other guests Theres an ice machine nearby but if you want pop you have to take a short walk over to get it A pubrestaurant is right next door and then some other eateries in that same block plus they have free cookies D more ... hide ...

I live at the Montefiore 5885 Cavendish and its freezing The hydro bills are outrageous and even though the building was recently renovated insulation wasnt done correctly Everywhere you look there are gaps that arent sealed There have been two changes in ownership since it opened less than a year ago and occupancy is only at 3035 The lobby is beautiful but don't be fooled theres no luxury here no gym pool patio or doorman not even a roof terrace Leaks have occurred due to improper installation of windows and the floors are made of cheap wood with concrete underneath and no insulation making it even colder To stay warm people are using heating pads electric blankets while paying exorbitant hydro bills they can hardly afford Weve had to buy our own window coverings with no help from the landlord Several washerdryer units arent working so laundry has to be done in empty ones or wait for technicians to arrive Water pressure quality isn't great either theres an unpleasant chemical odor from pipes neither hot nor cold extremes can be reached easily Many tenants have decided to take their landlords to the Rental Board because of all these issues plus the fact that smoking is allowed when its not supposed to be leading us having towels beneath doors our belongings smelling like smoke During a power outage there were no emergency lights which couldve been dangerous for seniors living alone who wouldnt more ... hide ...
