My biggest regret was renting an apartment for two years at 1050 Markham Road Capreit Inc Here are some of my experiences 1 The unit was extremely cold in winter I have emails as proof that it was below the standard temperature but there was no response from management They have inspection records in their office As a result I had to buy blankets and a heater and pay high electricity bills Someone told me hes been living there for years and the unit is still cold 2 I wanted to move out so I signed up for a monthtomonth contract providing 42 days notice to management however they said two months notice was necessary or else they would make me pay until they found another tenant due to my short notice This led me to contact the Tenancy BoardGovernmentfor help on this matter 3 The environment felt unsafe someone opened our car door parked outside the building and stole our belongings so we had to switch to basement parking instead after that incident occurred 4The carpets in the basement elevators and main entrance were very dirty as well as unprofessional staff behavior 5There were not enough closets nor mailboxes instead there was a small hole near the door where envelopes would be thrown inside 6Management did not have proper scheduling for maintenance which caused loud noises using hammers or machines late at night or on weekends making one feel like they were more ... hide ...

This place is a great deal for the rent and size of apartments It is conveniently located next to a school park with soccer and baseball fields right off the highway and a pharmacy in walking distance The neighbors are friendly and helpful they will even bring your mail to your door if it is left outside However the walls are thin so you can hear conversations and other noises plus the maintenance staff arent very reliable they don't take complaints seriously or make proper repairs Parking can be an issue since no one monitors it leaving broken glass around parking areas and garbage scattered Additionally skunks pose a problem though they are blind so if you give them space they wont bother you Squirells have been fed by residents leading them to cause destruction on balconies some seem to have mange as well The appliances are old with something wrong with them most likely don't expect replacements either Lastly the blinds in each apartment are very fragile and ugly more ... hide ...

This is an excellent and costeffective place to live the bus stop is a brief walk away and you can get to Tim Hortons the grocery store the library school Pam Am centre and U of TCentennial in a few minutes The management team is constantly making improvements to the buildingapartments Additionally they do an outstanding job with yearly pest control Michelle who works as a rental coordinator for them alongside Paul are very professional and friendly they both do amazing work more ... hide ...

Former tenants must understand what theyre getting into when renting from this place Roaches two types are everywhere and if you complain theyll just spray instead of fixing the problem If you cant pay the rent theyll increase it to market value instead of sticking to the amount based on your income You wont be allowed to voice complaints at board meetings since those are secret and don't expect any cleanliness either carpets havent been washed in over a decade and walls arent even cleaned for dirt or blood Native housing is supposed to be run by Natives but Dorothy Cook is running it whos known for her racism towards tenants yet can also appear nice sometimes bipolar Petitions have been sent for her termination but she still remains there money meant for community events is pocketed by them though this place claims to be a nonprofit organisation receiving grants from the government with tax exemptions To top it off we had to throw out our expensive furniture due to infestation when we left so living here isn't worth it more ... hide ...

I am thoroughly outraged at the lack of compassion from the Birchmount location team specifically Gabrielle and an anonymous figure I had to go through a lot of work to help a family from Hungary get settled into an apartment including getting their bank and case worker involved The father is in ESL school while collecting assistance and the mother has a housekeeping job for extra money The couple has a son who is in fulltime school So why was their application for an 950 one bedroom plus hydro denied They had more than enough income to pay rent even offering assistance to pay it directly to Management Im positive that if this happened to Italian immigrants parents or grandparents when they first came here they wouldnt have been happy with it either Regardless of this not being the nicest looking building or newest on the block Im appalled that such backward thinking would still exist today so I plan on getting answers as to why this rejection occurred Rebecca should learn something new here everyone needs accountability for their decisions no exceptions more ... hide ...
