Ive been residing at 218 MacLaren for a year and a half and its been an amazing experience The building has recently gone through a beautiful renovation I live in one of the onebedroom apartments which is quite spacious my Queensize bed armchair bookshelf and more fit easily I was able to create three distinct areas office dining area and living room with creative shelving placement while still making the space feel roomy Not to mention the balcony that comes with this unit perfect for summertime hangouts The kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances plus a dishwasher what more could you ask for Although the laundry room is small 3 washers 3 dryers there are rarely no machines available The fitness room could use some improvement an exercise bike and partial weight machine do not make up for missing free weights or treadmill That said there are plenty of gyms yoga studios nearby due to its central location Plus walking distance from the canal great place to go jogging in summer or ice skating in winter CLV have been good landlords they answer questionswork requests promptly which makes me highly recommend this place as your next residential spot more ... hide ...

Ive been living at the Saville Apartments for five years and its been an awful experience There is extensive water damage to at least one of the buildings plus mold in multiple units Many residents have had health issues due to the poor air quality and it takes forever to get work done I recently attempted to get someone in to repair a waterdamaged wall but after a week Im still left with a large hole and no report on any testing that was done for hazardous materials On two occasions doorknobs have fallen off once trapping me in the garbage room and another time locking me inside my own unit Property management changes constantly so nothing ever gets addressed or if something does happen its rarely completed or done properly Additionally we were told this was a nonsmoking building by one property manager during a tour however this is actually not true since we are regularly exposed to secondhand smoke through our windows and balconies all while management says smokers have the right to enjoy their balcony as they please The cost of rent has become out of control here in Ottawa so leaving isn't an option however AVOID THE SAVILLE APARTMENTS AT ALL COSTS more ... hide ...

I had a oneyear lease for this place beginning in June 2020 and ending in July 2021 Unfortunately by the end of my stay mice and cockroaches had become common in the building The management was decent and pest control was called but getting rid of these pests is no easy feat Additionally the kitchen was poorly constructed which led to them being present in the first place there were an abundance of cracks and crevices under the sink with unfinished wood that made it extremely susceptible to pests Furthermore drafty windows made winters very cold as I had to purchase a window sealing kit just to feel warm since you could literally feel a strong breeze coming from them Balconies were also filled with spider webs and dust I didnt even have a screen door when I moved in which took three days for two grown men to fix The neighbourhood was not only noisy but downright dangerous at times all of these factors far outweighed any positives such as cheap rent or having plenty of space so it is best if you can avoid this building altogether more ... hide ...
