Inhabitants of the building are unable to get rid of the ants, bed bugs, and cockroaches. There is no water or electricity on a frequent basis. Furthermore, there is no air conditioning within the building and those that purchase portable or window air conditioners must pay higher electric bills during summer months. Despite having air conditioning units, it remains hot and muggy in scorching temperatures. The older apartments have inadequate features such as no dishwashers, ventilation systems in kitchens, outdated appliances and kitchen cabinets, carpets etc., thus they remain untouched until residents move out. When considering the prices asked for renovated apartments with features like insect-free environment ,air conditioning , additional bathrooms etc., one can find better options elsewhere.
