The architecture of Princess Towers perplexes many, but there is an explanation. Dating back to the 1960s, its Brutalist style emphasizes functionality instead of aesthetics. Although not as impressive as Habitat 67, it has a few interesting features - for instance my flat extends along the entire building and has two levels with north and south windows, as well as a balcony without a roof. Other apartments even have "capsules" that protrude from the wall - this was originally built for Queen's student co-op. After two years here I'm content; my bedroom is large enough to fit a couch, king-size bed and more with high ceilings plus a big closet and storage room. All windows are sizable too! Recently there have been renovations - new windows/sliding balcony door, fridge etc., in addition to security systems (key cards/cameras). It's fifty meters from Metro Station so downtown is easily accessible; moreover I can see restaurants from my window! Maintenance staff are punctual and accommodating. Underground parking available too! Plus it's peaceful; outside noise from students barely registers compared to when I lived at ground level near bars. Lastly it allows dogs/smoking (in one's own apartment only). While not modern or luxurious lThe architecture of Princess Towers perplexes many, but there is an explanation. While not modern or luxurious looking (plain tiling floors etc.), this is ideal if practicality matters most to you - it has been great for me!more ...hide ...
