The paper-thin walls let in far too much noise - my neighbors' phones vibrating, their voices, and the dog barking. To make matters worse, they play loud and obnoxious music that makes the floor shake. There was even an argument about laundry that I heard in perfect clarity. Above me, I can tell which room they're in by the sound of their footsteps. If they turn on a tap it's like a waterfall coming through my apartment! At night I have to have a fan running so I can drown out all the noise or else sleep becomes impossible. No balcony, outdated appliances (including no dishwasher), small kitchen - not to mention no window in the bathroom and a strange smell from beneath the sink - someone before me had even sawed out a hole! There's also no towel rack now as there used to be one. Three times we've gone without hot water too! Air gets trapped in the hallway so again I need to keep a fan on constantly - this means an expensive electricity bill every month...the electrical setup is also weird with just one circuit for living room/hallway/bathroom (which has caused blown fuses!).
