It's not hard to see why Bluestone is so cheap; they are incredibly negligent landlords and property managers. Repairs take forever- for example, a ceiling leak starting April 8th won't be fixed until after June 21st and mould has formed in the meantime. Furthermore, they don't give the courtesy of a 24 hour notice before maintenance shows up or even pass a notice under the door at 3pm the day prior to their arrival. They even assured me that my unit's carpet would be replaced when I moved in but randomly decided to leave it ripped up with rusty staples still sticking out of it! My bathtub was also chipped up when I got here and maintenance said that no re-glazing was necessary despite them being told otherwise upon my move-in. These are only some examples of neglect from Bluestone; when I mentioned filing a complaint with the Landlord and Tenant Board, Deb Moore just laughed and said 'go ahead.' This is slumlords at their finest - stay away!

The quality of the apartments for the price is atrocious. The cabinets and doors are painted multiple times and creak all the time; floorboards are not sealed properly, making it difficult to walk without socks catching on them; plumbing is clogged, causing drains to back up when other tenants run water (Image 1); a broken shower handle (Image 2) was also found. The appliances are small with inadequate layouts that make it challenging to share with two or more people. Although cockroaches were absent from our unit, this doesn't make up for the various issues in comparison with its cost. My partner and I eagerly anticipate the end of our tenancy period. EDIT: In our unit, we had an unresponsive shower handle which needed repairment; the repairman noted that maintenance team should have taken care of this before we moved in and asked us to call again if it got stuck again - they would have to redo plumbing which was likely 60 years old! We shared a laugh but they were right - such problems should be sorted out prior to tenants settling in so as not to escalate into bigger hassles.

Renters, BEWARE of Bluestone Properties! I lived in their 6-story building at 250 Oakland Ave for 9 months upon its completion in 2020. After discovering German cockroaches in my apartment, I sent pictures to the landlord but got no response. When I notified them of my intention to move out, they refused to reimburse my last month€™s deposit and denied the infestation even though other tenants had similar complaints. Moreover, the walls are poorly insulated and hallways are not kept clean. You can easily hear your neighbour's conversations due to lack of soundproofing - this company is all about profits so STAY AWAY from them!
