I've been living at The Bailey for nearly 5 years, having witnessed the ownership transition from Beech Lake to Alvista. Of all the ownerships, this has been by far the worst. Valet trash is a required $25 fee but often times it goes uncollected and we are still charged. Pest extermination is another mandated fee that isn't taken seriously; roaches, spiders, and wasps can be found both indoors and out. Amenities are non-existent - I can't remember when the pool was last open - and if you wanted 24/7 access to what little gym equipment there is (which is broken down), you have to pay an extra fee! There's no point of contact at the leasing office or any sort of priority placed on maintenance requests; my kitchen sink had water leaking from it for nearly a week before they finally addressed it after multiple visits to remind them of its urgency (and with attitude!). They also don't communicate in advance about power/service outages or scheduled work, which caused me irreparable damage to patio furniture due to unannounced exterior painting. When I ended my lease no one showed up for the walk through inspection despite being scheduled; I had to go back into office yet again just so that they could do their job properly! And on top of that, when I went in with key return arrangements their office was closed again without response from calls/emails! All these superficial modifications aren't dealing with actual service requests ormore ...hide ...
I have been residing here for three years, the first two of which were wonderful. Alvista Durham was superb; maintenance requests were addressed in a timely manner and the leasing office personnel were cordial and attentive. That all changed in December 2021, when the property was sold. Maintenance requests are not handled promptly, the leasing office is closed sporadically without warning and calls are routed to an automated system that reaches an out-of-state call center. Moreover, staff has attempted to enter my apartment without knocking or inserting their keys while they knock on numerous occasions. Upgrades have been made to certain units such as painting of exterior buildings and new countertops and flooring; these improvements are okay but display a neglect of real needs since many apartments experience broken air conditioners with slow responses to maintenance requests in response. Some tenants have window units as a "temporary fix", yet how "temporary" is it when it's been there for three months with no one tending to the central air conditioning? The sight isn't pleasing either, fresh paint next door yet cardboard covering windows with window units in them; furthermore, it's uncomfortable for my neighbors who just get oI have been residing here for three years, the first two of which were wonderful. The sight isn't pleasing either, fresh paint next door yet cardboard covering windows with window units in them; furthermore, it's uncomfortable for my neighbors who just get one room cooled off in a hot apartment building. This morning I awoke with no water supply or notification prior that it would be cut off and there was nobody at the leasing office either - only a sign on the door indicating an out-of-state call center number . It appears this complex has shifted its focus from taking care ofmore ...hide ...
