In October 2020, my mom moved into Chartwell during the pandemic and our family has been extremely pleased with how the management at The Harbours have managed her transition during this tough time. They have been very understanding of Mom's needs and have worked hard to make sure she was comfortable. Although many group activities were put on hold due to safety reasons, the staff at the residence still made sure residents felt connected and taken care of by providing a mobile cocktail hour, door delivery crafts and floor activities in the last couple of months. Mom is enjoying her meals and takes a daily walk around the lake which is beneficial for her health as well as mental wellbeing. Coming from living on their own to living in an active senior residence can be emotionally taxing for everyone involved; however, Laura and her team made it a positive experience that was filled with excitement and hope. Once Mom decided The Harbours was where she belonged, she couldn't wait to move in. As a family member I'm confident that The Harbours' top priority is ensuring resident safety and wellbeing; Laura does an outstanding job keeping communication lines open between residents/family members while responding promptly to inquiries. My mother has lived at the residence for over a year now and her positive opinion of it has not changed. The suites are well-appointed with amenities like stove-top, microwave and dishwasher; plus, the food service remains of excellent quality. In addition to that, there is a wide range of activities available for residents to socialize and keep their minds and bodies active - from hallway exercises to bingo to virtual travel sessions. There are also happy hours every Thursday where staff serve themed beverages and snacks. One of the strongest aspects favoring Chartwell is its staff who keep families informed at all times - especially during the COVID pandemic when they had an admirable record compared to other facilities with very few cases among either residents or staff members. This speaks volumes about how well Chartwell managed lockdown protocols while keeping everyone safe and sound.
