It's been five years since my parents have been living at the Steger Residence, which is owned by Atria American franchise. The staff here are great, from the kitchen to the cleaning and office personnel; they all feel like a big family. Although it has improved since the three years prior, I can't give this place full approval as a senior-friendly home due to safety concerns. For example, there is no buzz code for visitors coming in winter, making it difficult for those with walkers or wheelchairs to get inside. Furthermore, even if someone makes it into their car from outside entrance, maneuvering around apartments within can be challenging with bathrooms and balconies not being level. And lastly, the backyard is completely inaccessible to those using walkers or wheelchairs. Despite these issues though, I recently had to hire Personal Touch Nursing Company (which relies on Steger) for my father's declining health and after meeting with them we were able to resolve any past issues; so overall I'd still give this place 4 stars if not for safety concerns.
