For fifteen years, I lived at 2700 Saratoga Pl., but recently moved out. This once friendly neighborhood has been subject to a "limited care" management--similar to a low-class motel with new leadership every few years--resulting in a series of bad choices. Because the building is quite old (mid 70's), most units are being remodeled, which can be heard everywhere due to its structural design. If you live with children or someone who walks heavily on the floors, be prepared to be very upset as it sounds like a bass drum. Furthermore, there have been sugar ants travelling through the pipes and walls for years that cannot be eliminated without help from the building manager. Additionally, over the past 10 years there has been limited ventilation and one can smell everything from food and dirty clothes in the air. On a more positive note, shopping is close by with an abundance of stores; nature and forests are also nearby; it is located next door to one of Ottawa's largest mosques; hot tap water is always ready within five seconds after turning it on; plus dust levels are high thanks to unglazed concrete floors beneath older carpets.

I have been living in my apartment for nearly two years now and I adore it. The employees are always so kind and we have had many enjoyable conversations in the elevators. The office personnel are very helpful and attend to any problems you have promptly. They take all issues that you bring up seriously and resolve them quickly. Homestead also puts a lot of resources into bettering the lifestyle of its inhabitants. During last summer, they renovated the lobby, before that they fixed up the garage, plus they keep the grounds well-maintained with flowers, trees, pathways, etc., and any difficulties get addressed right away. My only complaint is that the pool is only open for about six weeks each year. All in all, Homestead is an admirable organization who takes great care of their properties; I love my apartment here and plan to stay as long as possible!
