I would give a negative star if possible; the maintenance in this building is the worst that I have encountered among all of the places I have leased. The management here would never be able to help you out. My suggestion: get away from this place! Pictures illustrate what was lying behind the kitchen cabinets, which explains why others have been griping about cockroaches; not to mention, it also provides the apartment with an unpleasant smell. They had asserted that my apartment was totally renovated before I moved in.

I stayed at 1339 Meadowlands for five months and highly recommend it. The apartment was clean, no pests or bugs were spotted during my stay. Although not new, the place was spacious and everything functioned properly. The balconies had great views of downtown Ottawa from the 6th floor where I watched multiple sunsets. Shopping and two to three grocery stores were within walking distance and the area was secure with a school across the street. Parking was accessible as well as a small playground for kids, plus a mini dog park. The building itself was quite new and neat; however, the elevators ran slowly while tenants often left old furniture in common rooms on each floor which could be irritating. Contacting management wasn't too difficult yet notice before entering my unit wasn't always provided nor did they explain why fire alarms would go off every two weeks.

Having lived here for the previous five years, I have noticed a lot of improvements within the last year. It is unclear if there has been a change in management, but maintenance requests are now being taken care of where they used to be neglected. Also, the pest issues that were previously mentioned in reviews have been dealt with and proven to be effective. The lobby, hallways and old units have also had more attractive changes made such as new flooring. Despite this, I only give 4 stars as communication from management could still use some work when it comes to informing tenants about entering for fire alarm inspections or routine pest control services. Nonetheless, this place has seen marked improvement and is an excellent choice for students due to its convenient location and it makes a great first apartment!
