Living in Ray Manor, managed by Avenue Living, was an awful experience. Bed bugs had infested several suites of the building, and my bathtub was filthy and unkempt when I moved in. Despite being promised that AL would replace it right away, they never did throughout the 11 months I resided there. It had a greyish-yellow tinge due to lack of cleaning; additionally, due to flooding caused by previous Red Alert tenants, the carpet had been ripped out and replaced with wooden planks that were impossible to keep clean - even featuring a patch of glue on one large plank.
My neighbors brought further chaos: one assaulted me with a bat yet AL and the police took no action; junkies frequented; there were constant verbal fights between couples; and just before moving out I saw someone hang herself from her balcony (which my neighbors made light of). There were also drug deals at entrance doors as well as people bringing guns and other weapons into the building.
Given these conditions, I gave AL two stars for returning my full damage deposit - despite having cleaned immaculately - as this was more than expected from such 'slum lords'. Under no circumstances would I ever rent from Avenue Living again nor suggest them as an option.
