Friendly Landlord

Help with your notice form

Find help with drafts, signatures and PDF files here. The supported locations, deadlines and delivery instructions stay on each notice form.

Opened this from a form? Your form is still in the other tab. This help page does not receive your entries or signature.

Saved drafts & clearing

Where is my draft saved?

When automatic saving is on, your draft stays in this browser profile on this device. The form does not upload your entries or signature to Friendly Landlord. Anyone using the same browser profile may be able to reopen them. Turn saving off on a shared device.

A saved draft is not a downloaded PDF. Drafts older than 30 days are removed when you next open the form. Browser settings, private browsing or clearing site data can also remove a draft.

How do I clear the form and saved draft?

Choose Clear form & saved draft (called Clear saved draft & form on some forms), then confirm in the dialog. The form removes the saved draft from this browser and clears the entered details and signatures. Standard form text, example hints and default settings remain. A new signature date may show today's date.

Downloaded PDFs and copies you already shared are kept. Clear signature only clears the active signature; it does not clear the whole form.

I clicked Clear, but my details are still there. What should I do?

The first click opens a confirmation dialog. Choose the clear button in that dialog to finish. If you see an error, the browser may not have allowed the saved copy to be removed; do not assume clearing succeeded. The form's saving message describes the result.

A different open tab may still display its own copy. Close it when finished; do not use its option to save that copy again. Downloaded files and an already opened PDF are separate copies, so clearing a form does not erase those files.

If needed, use your browser's site-data settings to remove Friendly Landlord data. This can remove other drafts and offline files for this site too.

Why did saving pause in another tab?

Another tab changed or cleared the saved draft. Saving pauses to avoid overwriting it. Reload to use the current saved copy, or choose the option to save this tab instead only if you intend to replace that copy.

Editing & signatures

Will correcting a field erase my signature?

On forms that offer electronic signing, correcting a detail keeps your drawn or typed signature available but cancels its previous confirmation. Review the changes and confirm again before creating a new PDF. The old downloaded PDF does not update itself.

Why does my form require a paper signature?

Signing options depend on the particular form and its supported situation. Use the signing instructions shown on that form. A general instruction on this help page does not enable electronic signing where the form requires print-and-sign.

Does signing mean the notice was delivered?

No. Preparing a document, signing it and giving it to the tenant are separate steps. Follow the delivery instructions on the specific form. Complete any delivery record only after the actual delivery.

PDF files & sharing

How do I review or print the PDF?

On forms with an Open PDF button, open the prepared file to review it in a separate tab. You can print from the PDF viewer if your device offers that option. Otherwise, download the PDF and open it in a PDF reader.

To correct the content, return to the form, make the change and complete its review or signing step again. Then use the new PDF.

How do I email or text a PDF?

Share PDF opens your device's sharing menu when the browser supports sharing files. Available email and messaging apps depend on your device. If you see Save PDF to share, save the file first, then attach it in your chosen app. Nothing is sent automatically.

Sharing a file does not establish lawful delivery of the notice. Follow the instructions for the specific form and location.

Can I clear the draft after downloading?

First open the downloaded file and check its contents and signature. Confirm that you have saved the copy you need. Clearing the draft removes the saved form from this browser, but does not remove downloaded PDFs.

Offline & phone help

Can I return without an internet connection?

First open the form online and wait for its message that it is ready to reopen offline. Check that the draft says it was saved. You can then reopen that form while the browser retains its saved data. Links to other pages may still require an internet connection.

Private browsing, browser storage limits or clearing site data can remove saved drafts and offline files. A saving error means you should keep the current page open and preserve your work before leaving.

How can I test saving on my phone?

Use fictional details in a regular browser tab. On a form with electronic signing, also add a test signature.

  1. Wait for the saved-draft and offline-ready messages.
  2. Rotate the phone and switch briefly to another app. Return and check your details.
  3. Turn on airplane mode and turn Wi-Fi off. Change one field, wait for its save message, then reload.
  4. Close the tab and reopen the same form while offline. Check the latest entries.
  5. Reconnect, review and create a PDF. Open the actual file and check its contents.
  6. Clear the test draft, confirm, and reload to check that the test entries are gone.

After reopening or correcting an electronically signed form, needing to confirm again is expected. This checklist is a way to test your device; it does not certify every phone, sharing app or printer.

Something still isn't working?

Keep the form open if it still shows work you need. Report a form problem with the form name, device, browser, action and exact error message. Use fictional examples; do not send tenant information or a real signature.
