When I began searching for an affordable and secure residence, I was hesitant to look into the apartments in my hometown of Dekalb; I had heard horror stories about them. However, Karen from the leasing office was so friendly that I decided to go check it out anyway. To my surprise, the grounds were well-maintained and there were no broken windows or cars like before. After viewing an older unit and being reassured about updates, I filled out applications and documentation - which took time to be approved - then moved in. The flat was updated nicely with a screened-in porch that quickly became one of my favorite features. Maintenance responded quickly when we had urgent issues such as a broken toilet (my son put something inside) or a malfunctioning ceiling fan on the porch. The neighborhood is very quiet with weekly lawn care, valet trash pickup, and common area cleaning services; however pet owners don't always clean up after their animals near my building which can be smelly and leave nowhere for children to play outside apart from the pool or dog park nearby. Although there were some kinks in setting up payments (leading to a late fee), overall this apartment is great value for money - highly recommended!

Living in my apartment for nearly a year has been an experience. Initially, the place was called Novo Avondale and the management was great - earning almost 5 stars - yet, our unit was in rude condition; stains everywhere, marker marks on cabinets, peeling paint off walls and broken doors. However, the new management came in and only focused on money leaving us with less than what we paid for. The community is gated but our car got vandalized anyway with no witnesses. Additionally, water leaked from the roof into the ceiling in two rooms while they promised to get a vendor to paint it but never happened. This caused moldy smells from AC ducts which were also extremely noisy. The landscaping deteriorated too; making it difficult to enjoy the pool which is often closed without any prior notice or explanation. Moreover, we never had access to gym despite asking for it many times; emails ignored and phones unanswered when met at office with door locked! No wonder why everyone is leaving due to so many units available now!
