Visiting The Hat in the East Village was an amazing experience: everything was just as depicted in all the photos! I emailed them asking about a 1-bedroom rental and they responded quickly. At my viewing appointment, Cathy and Janice warmly welcomed me. Both of them were so kind, friendly and knowledgeable about the property, as well as the neighborhood. Janice took me on a tour of all the different apartments available and gave me suggestions for bringing my pup too! I didn't feel at all rushed during this process either; when I left,I spoke with one of their residents who had only good things to say about living there--great location, great people, and incredible views! Plus there's a dog park only 30 seconds away from The Hat!

The staff at this facility was incredibly unprofessional. I had scheduled a viewing appointment via the site, but when I arrived, they asked me to fill out a form regarding what type of housing I was looking for and my budget. After indicating that I wanted a one bedroom and inputting the budget that aligned with their incentives listed on the site, the woman told me there wasn't anything available within my price range. When I asked about the incentives (two months free in an 18 lease and one year free parking), she simply replied that it wouldn't work like that - no two months would be free. She did not explain how their incentives worked either. My overall experience was terrible; considering this is supposed to be a luxurious building, I expected more professionalism from its staff when communicating with potential tenants. If you are still interested in living here, double-check on your appointment day if what you're looking for is still available and make sure to get clarification on how their incentives actually work before signing any agreements! A suggestion for management: please improve customer service by training employees to communicate professionally and respectfully with prospective tenants. Even though I cannot be more ...

This building is not worth its high price tag, as it offers nothing luxurious. The base rent for a one bedroom is already over $1500 with no parking or storage included. There isn't even a concierge/front desk, which would be expected in a supposedly "luxury" building. Additionally, the appliances appear to be cheap and outdated; featuring an old-fashioned fridge/freezer combination. Flooring is thin vinyl, with no insulation between floors - meaning the sound of kids screaming and couples arguing can easily travel through. Hallways are very narrow (about 3.5 feet wide) so passing someone while entering your door means you will have to brush against them. Bikes are not permitted in the elevators or suites but there are only a few steel posts available for use in the bike room - first come first serve basis - which are usually occupied anyway! Also, when temperatures drop outside, heating doesn't remain consistent within the suite and cold air seeps through patio doors; I was told this is simply "how it is" when I raised this issue - which isn't true at all!
