I found out today (May 12, 2021) from building maintenance that there is an active BED BUG problem on the 14th floor. Management neglected to inform me of this, and I only heard about it through a neighbor's altercation with the crew in the hallway. When I viewed my apartment in August, I asked if bugs were an issue as other reviews had mentioned ant infestations. They told me "that's only an issue on lower floors" so I assumed it would be safe to move into one of the upper levels. Unfortunately, this was false; on my second day living here there was a sink full of ants and now they appear daily in the bathroom too. Management gave me ant traps which have proven ineffective thus far, so I've contacted them again for further action.
Additionally, when viewing my apartment prior to signing the lease I mentioned wanting to get away from construction noise as my previous building was next to a work zone - but what they didn't tell me is that here there are incredibly loud drilling noises which make it hard for people to hear me during video calls even while working from home during COVID-19 restrictions! It feels like management must have known about this before but failed to mention it when discussingmy rental options; now I'm stuck I found out today (May 12, 2021) from building maintenance that there is an active BED BUG problem on the 14th floor. If only I could tell my past self not to sign; this has been incredibly disappointing all around!more ...hide ...
I have resided at The Quay for over a year now and the view of CN Tower and Lake Ontario is amazing. The bedrooms and living room are quite spacious as well. Despite minor issues, typical of multi-residential complexes, the building's upkeep is commendable. Furthermore, the management staff are very helpful with any maintenance or other matters that need to be addressed. You receive great value for your money! Additionally, that review about hearing your neighbour urinate is completely false because it is a very quiet building; I work from home so I am always here yet never had to contact security due to excessive noise at any time of day or night. If you're in search of somewhere to call home then this would be an ideal choice! :)
I've been a tenant at Maple Leaf Quay for the past three years and initially, I was quite content with the location, in-building access to Shopper's Drug Mart and satisfactory amenities. Nonetheless, since extensive construction projects have been carried out over a six-month period, it has had a majorly detrimental effect on my quality of life. The management's ineptitude has only added to this problem. Here is an overview of the projects: complete renovation of lobbies (which has been going on for 3+ months - tenants must use back entrance), switch-out of windows in every unit (tenants were expected to move out while work was being done which lasted 72 hours; no compensation given and less than 24 hours notice given to enter unit), overhauling existing units for new tenants (existing inhabitants receive no upgrade) plus our amenities such as sauna and rooftop patio have been suspended without any form of reimbursement or decreases in fees. Furthermore, there are regular water shut offs, noisy after-hours construction work and building personnel accompanied by dust and gear present daily. To make matters worse, when I contacted security guard due to drilling occurring late into the night he refused to give me the super's number! Do not consider renting here - there are better options with better facilities run by more qualified staff in this area.more ...hide ...
