I was among the first tenants of the first building, with a nice private bachelor suite to myself. Penny was the on-site manager, and I really enjoyed living there for my entire lease term. Nevertheless, despite never being late on rent or having any issues with neighbours and being in good terms with them, Emerald refused to let me renew my lease or move into a different unit; I had to settle for a month-to-month tenancy and hope that my rent wouldn't increase. This didn't seem fair so I decided to leave once my lease ended. My new home is great, but Emerald left an unpleasant impression in me; they probably wanted renters out so they could turn more units into Condos.
The Gala's response to my review was extreme; they called the police, who told me they didn't need to come by. Harassment! I've never encountered worse realty management. Ashley Kane was completely incompetent when I lost my keys, including the keyless FOB. It took me at least 3 weeks of constant contact before they agreed to meet me and replace them; then they locked my door with the keys in their office, forcing me to stay in my car! They've misplaced my rent payments twice and I had to pay a lawyer and extra fees for new drafts both times. In April, they charged me $405 more than due which took about a week to track down Kane - no one is ever at the leasing office for this 3 building complex. She apologized but never actually debited it from my next month's rent as promised; instead she mailed out a cheque and on May 1st after I put in a certified draft with all information included, I received a default notice accusing me of being late plus late fees! When I contacted Kane again she accused ME of harassing her staff.
