I have a lot to report about Playfair Residences and their property management, G & S rental/regal management. Our experience was the worst. There were numerous issues with the apartment - cracks, terrible paint condition on the balcony, faulty fans and cooling system; management was unresponsive, dodging emails for weeks and never providing concrete answers; submitting a work request would go unheard for months. The ladies in the office were nice but useless. Construction noise is a constant from 7am-5pm. Units are small and in not good shape yet very expensive - some going up to 1650$+++ with no electricity included; temperature control is impossible sometimes making it too hot in winter or no AC in summer; notices apologizing for everything are posted all over lobby and elevator areas but they don't do anything to fix it all. 4-5am construction noises usually occur without consequence despite building apologies.. Everyone on my floor has similar issues with this management situation so we feel like second class citizens despite being customers here. Though the area is beautiful (nearby city park, bar and shawarma place) there's something wrong when you can't get help from management when you need it most. Living at 1701 Kilborn for over a year now, I can vouch that this is a nice place to stay. It's as tranquil as one can expect in an apartment building, and it has multiple amenities such as laundromats, a fitness center, and even a swimming pool. The shared spaces are kept clean and attractively designed. Moreover, the administration personnel are friendly and answer to questions or complaints swiftly. The neighbourhood is great, plus the complex is merely three minutes from a plaza with supermarkets, restaurants, drugstores and even doctors' offices. As old-fashioned as it may be – expectedly accompanied by issues like heating taking up to seven days to switch from cold to warm temperatures (I recall my apartment getting too hot in October-November 2020) – I recommend having a fan handy just in case. There were sometimes complications with the fans making peculiar noises but repairmen usually fix them quickly. The prices are reasonable; my studio was slightly below $1000 considering current rental rates of this town so they deserve some credit for that one point. A good option for young professionals overall!
