After moving from out of state, I was sent pictures of the unit and told it was a 4-plex with 2 washers and dryers in each unit, included a window air conditioner, had a parking space in front of the building, and accepted pets. Based on this information I provided my deposit sight unseen as I needed an address to ship my items to. But one week before move-in I was informed that the original unit wouldn't be available; however they said there would be new carpet, flooring and paint in the replacement. Despite incurring transfer fees for changing locations and having already set up utilities for the original unit, I went ahead with the switch. Upon arrival at my new apartment building however it became apparent that the pictures were from when it was newer - now rundown with Section 8 signs hung around its front office. Still hopeful, they made me sign papers & give them a check before showing me around but upon entering all hope vanished; not only wasn't it a 4-plex but also had cigarette smell & tar stains on light fixtures plus food caked onto windowsills & mold/mildew in bathtub - additionally no window air conditioner or laundry facilities as promised.
