We lived at Hillsdale Garden for two years, from March 2017-September 2019; and at first, the positives outweighed the negatives. The location was great - walking distance to Trader Joe's and the Caltrain station - and there was plenty of green space in and around the complex. However, over time we became increasingly frustrated with a few issues: the pool constantly had large groups of people which seemed to violate guest policy; the gym equipment was outdated and falling apart; dumpster areas were often messy; there were increased amounts of activity outside our apartment after dark; rent prices kept increasing without any improvements being made to justify them; water meters were shared so your usage didn't matter as everyone paid an equal amount per capita regardless if they wasted or used frugally; utilities bill kept rising - even when no air conditioning or washing machine/dishwasher was in use; Comcast had an exclusivity deal if cable internet was desired. We enjoyed our time here initially but eventually all these little annoyances added up, prompting us to move out two months ago.
