I have been a tenant of this complex for two years, and during that time there have been multiple changes in management and maintenance. Initially I had a very positive experience, but since the last changeover things have become sloppier. Dog waste stations are often overflowing with bags scattered across the ground, while the amenities such as the gym and pool are great in theory but lack upkeep. The water has been murky all summer long, causing irritation to skin after leaving it; even forcing some residents to use pool skimmers on weekends to make it more bearable. The pool has become so bad that DHEC recently shut it down completely!
Considering how expensive rent is here, along with extra expenses added on top of that one would expect to get good value for their money. When I finally moved out after months of planning ahead and cleaning my apartment thoroughly per contract instructions - plus paying any remaining utilities - I was shocked when only $5 of my security deposit was refunded back! Apparently they used the rest for "cleaning" my carpet in one room, microwave and stove...even though all these were already spotless when I left!
Renter beware: this seems really shady and unprofessional business practice!
My family recently moved from Arcadia's Edge, and although it wasn't bad overall, we decided to move from TX to SC as a temporary option while house-hunting. On April 25th, when we moved in, there were multiple issues: the dishwasher was broken and had an unpleasant smell; there was no washer/dryer even though we requested one; carpets weren't cleaned and had stains; rugs were damaged from animals scratching them; fans were wobbly and lights would flicker in 3 rooms plus the bathroom. We submitted a list of defects to the leasing office but nothing got fixed. When doing the walkthrough with maintenance at the end of our stay, he didn't know about any work orders being issued. The dog trash cans would sometimes be overflowing with poo bags around the complex, so they left notes saying people would be fined if their trash wasn't in a single dumpster - which ended up being too small for everyone - so they replaced it with one that had no top which worked better. The front gate broke near May's end and still is broken. There are train tracks behind Arcadia's Edge but it never really bothered us (it only came 3 times per day). The maintenance guy who did our walkthrough seemed friendly as did two main ladies in leasing office (though tMy family recently moved from Arcadia's Edge, and although it wasn't bad overall, we decided to move from TX to SC as a temporary option while house-hunting. Overall, Arcadia's Edge wasn't terrible for an apartment complex but thankfully we found a house soon after movingmore ...hide ...
