I moved to Vancouver to work for a year and found apartment living great since my space was furnished and there were regularly organized community events. It also saved me money since bachelor pads are expensive in the city. Things to consider are the utilities, views (north side has amazing view but south side is hot during summer), flexible lease terms, pool (summer only), hot tub, gym, on-site laundry and mini-putt. Contrary to what other reviews say, I had no issues with staff. The micro-units don't have much room for excess items so storage units in the basement can be used for extra stuff like hiking/snowboarding gear.

When temperatures rise above 25 C, it becomes unbearably hot outside. The manager of the apartment is overworked and unresponsive. Basic features like shelves in the shower and a way to route sink heat from the fridge are overlooked in the design. At night, noise from rummaging in bins can be heard. There are frequent fire alarms as well. The isolated residential neighbourhood offers few businesses within a five-minute walk range, and clunky underground parking storage makes biking inconvenient. All of this led me to conclude that this was my worst $5,000 spent on an apartment!
