I lived in a condo downtown for two years, paying premium prices due to its location. During my stay, my vehicle was broken into and damaged multiple times due to the higher crime rate. The building was advertised as adult only but there were often children screaming that could be heard through the walls while I was trying to sleep or work. Additionally, kids from the family above my parking stall would drop things into my car scratching the paint. Maintenance workers would finish tasks but mark them complete without actually resolving the issue, making me have to contact management for assistance. It gets extremely hot in summer (~30) and air conditioners are not able to be plugged in since outlets can't handle it so air conditioning cannot be used- leading to overheating in summer months. Water shutoffs were frequent and we were warned not use water lines between 9am-5pm which was inconvenient when working from home as I often received notice on same day of shutoff. On a positive note, renovated suites look very modern and nice; while it isn't perfect, you'll get an authentic Edmonton experience living here!

We had to make the difficult choice of breaking our lease and moving out because we had been dealing with water leaks in our unit for over a year, which was especially problematic due to my medical condition. A third-party contractor was sent in to look at the ceiling leak, but their assessment that it was fixed proved incorrect. It came to a head this June when heavy rains caused another leak in our living room ceiling and we knew we couldn't stay anymore. The property manager blamed us for renewing the lease; what's more, they wanted us to pay more if we transferred units—which wasn't fair considering it wasn't our fault. We liked this place for its maintenance/housekeeping and location, yet management didn't show understanding towards us. Rather than keep us as tenants by allowing us to transfer units at no extra cost, they chose instead to cover the costs of breaking the lease—something that could have been avoided if they'd taken our reports seriously in the first place. Management could have done better here.
