Living in a College Courts Townhouse for two semesters had largely been a negative experience. Despite paying almost $800 a month for rent with three other roommates, the walls were paper thin, making it possible to hear conversations from neighboring houses. In addition, the basement bedrooms were always cold despite adjusting the furnace and CHOC staff did nothing to address this issue. Furthermore, all tenants paid the same rent but only one bathroom upstairs was equipped with a full bath/shower while the other was just a single stall shower. The parking lots and sidewalks also weren't maintained during winter and lacked lights or security cameras resulting in multiple vehicle thefts. On top of that, laundry expenses were high due to dirty machines damaging clothing. All of these factors adversely impacted my learning outcomes as I had to struggle through daily academic commitments despite residing on campus itself which was probably its only positive aspect. Thus I would strongly advise seeking off campus housing since there are numerous good options around!
