We resided at Uptown Lake Apartments for about eighteen months and generally enjoyed our unit; however, we experienced problems with the building’s maintenance and management’s inaction. Pros included the friendly staff, full security deposit refunded upon moving out, negotiating a lower parking fee when renewing our lease, as well as attractive room layouts at a reasonable price. On the other hand, there was almost no security; people could easily sneak in to steal packages and even my bike was stolen from its locked rack. We emailed management numerous times which were rarely responded to—as if they only answered me. My car window had been tampered with too. Even though cameras were present in the garage, no one was ever caught for these crimes and nothing was done to improve safety measures. The cleanliness of the building left much to be desired—dog poop/used tampons left uncleaned for days on end while snow wasn't cleared until I mentioned it after five days had elapsed. Amenities such as hot tub/terrace grilling areas hardly worked or weren't maintained properly while random people would hang around asking me for rides in the garage area.
