I would give this place four stars if it wasn't for the superintendents, who are a true nightmare. On the plus side, the Velo has a decent gym and great location; plus its residents are wonderful. The BBQ and rooftop patio are great too but management is slow to open them for spring/summer. It's clean and reasonably priced given the area, though it's made with cheap materials. The old superintendent was active and communicative whereas now they're socially inept and commercially incompetent; as well as being condescending in conversation - often saying something awkward or rude. They also don't help with anything beyond their scope, like when they moved outdoor parking across the street without helping tenants coordinate with lot owners - leaving them stranded when snowed in afterwards.
Pros and cons of living here from a tenant who's been here since the start:
Pros:
-Modern and new units
-Great superintendents and building cleanliness
-High quality air exchange
-6 stainless steel appliances and laundry in unit
-Blinds on all windows for privacy
-Secure building with lots of cameras
-Rooftop balcony with BBQs, small gym, patios in most units; great value!
Cons:
-No sound insulation between units; neighbours upstairs sound like a football team (horizontal insulation is top notch though)
-Fresh air intake located on balcony so BBQ sets off smoke detectors repeatedly when cooking (very loud!) -Smells from neighbors' balconies can be drawn into your apartment due to fresh air intake location -Elevators are extremely slow -Parking is available but there's a long waiting list for future spots.
