The building is in bad shape: old appliances, drafty windows from '64 rattling with every gust of wind, and a pungent indoor garage. The laundry room is decrepit with broken machines, and the mailroom has no security even though there are cameras; packages get stolen all the time. To top it off, there are too many bedbug-infested neighbors!

My 11.5 years in this apartment were largely good, though the last few months were a nightmare. The location is great and the price is fair for the area; it had a spacious living room and bedroom with soundproofing that was decent. Early on they renovated the hallways and balconies, but nothing has been done since then. The windows and doors are old, letting in cold air during winter; as well, there’s not enough laundry machines for the size of building, plus they are often dirty or broken. The pool has remained closed most of my time here and the staircases have been unhygienic too. Theft is an issue – packages from mailroom have been stolen - plus people breaking into storage units in basement now too! Worst of all though: a massive bed bug infestation! I wouldn't advise anyone to rent here unless they make serious improvements to battle this problem soon.

I lived at 257 Lisgar for 5 years, recently moving out. There were nice people, but we had to deal with pests like roaches, bedbugs and mice. After four years of being told the toilet would be replaced, it still hadn't been done. Windows were supposed to be cleaned in June and never happened; appliances were small and dated with no A/C or modern heating. The pool and saunas (closed due to COVID) were poorly maintained before that. Parcels got stolen often, including my bike from someone who lived in the building; security cameras didn't work either. Taggart took no responsibility for the mailroom security either. The positives of living there included cheap rent and proximity to restaurants, government offices and public transport - plus the property management staff was generally nice & kept common areas clean. Beware though: Taggart is planning on constructing a 27-storey building just behind 257 Lisgar which will result in increased noise for at least a year if not more!
