The most shocking part of this experience was the numerous assumptions Sylvia made about my roommate and me. She questioned why we'd move into a place with a "disgusting" oven and dishwasher, although we had no other choice due to our financial situation as full-time students and workers. We were even supposed to get better living conditions after signing the lease. She asked how we could live in such conditions, implying that our standard of living was below par. Being someone of color who's been financially independent since young, her attitude felt very disrespectful. Three weeks have gone by and our deposit cheque still hasn't arrived yet despite an agreed-upon reduced payment. The lack of respect I received is what bothers me most rather than the money itself. Other problems included a broken washer/dryer that cost us extra money, no security cameras in the mail room leading to stolen packages being unable to be recovered or compensated for; Sylvia also accused us wrongly of throwing out wood pallets while threatening eviction if they weren't removed on time (despite seeing other tenants doing it). Then there was her partner, who came to check on the dishwasher but instead blamed us for not knowing how to use it properly or keep it clean without any proof whatsoever. Lastly, during our final inspection she expected me to treat her kindly just because she's older despite not showing me any courtesy beforehand. It's been weeks since this happened but I'm still unhappy with MetCap's values so I won'tmore ...hide ...
Living at 737 Carnarvon is a real nightmare due to its terrible management. The building's manager is incredibly rude and does not display any respect for tenants. It gets worse as the building has been infested with bedbugs on multiple floors, yet the manager refuses to address the issue; instead she blames tenants and instructs them not to tell anyone else in the building. This has been going on for years since she took over managing it, so you will frequently see discarded mattresses by the garbage bins. Furthermore, brown water sometimes comes out of taps which may be caused by either a faulty sewer system mixing with tap water or an expired water boiler - this happens so often that it clogs up filters in both showers and taps. Even if you can get past all of this, don't expect full 24 hours notice if the building manager wishes to enter your suite! To top it all off, parking spots are only given to those who pay higher rent - leaving those without newly renovated apartments out of luck even though there might be spots available. All in all, stay away from here unless you want to shell out over $1900 for a one bedroom and put up with bedbugs!
I recently had an awful experience living at 737 Carnarvon due to the building's management and their questionable business practices. The manager, Sylvia, was exceedingly impolite to me and my roommate, despite us consistently paying rent on time and even gifting our building manager a Christmas present. This treatment has been the most disrespectful I have ever experienced, so I felt obligated to share my story. Before you consider moving into this space, please be aware of what could happen!
When we moved in, the previous manager (Aida) promised us both a new oven and dishwasher as the current ones were broken. We have emails as proof of this exchange along with video footage of how it was when we first moved in - which did not include an official inspection from any of the managers. According to tenancy rights though, not conducting an inspection would mean that we should get our full deposit back - something which didn't happen.
Before leaving the apartment at the end of our lease period, we paid for a cleaner in order to make sure it was up standards when they inspected it; matching paint colours on walls; sanding/filling any holes; sweeping/mopping floors etc. When Sylvia came for inspection she immediately accused us of leI recently had an awful experience living at 737 Carnarvon due to the building's management and their questionable business practices. She said that small sud mark on sink and pre-existing stain on bathtub justified taking away two hours worth of service time from our deposit; she also blamed us formore ...hide ...
