As actual Bowen Island residents we had been running our business for 20 years and wanted to thank our staff with a weekend getaway We found the Eastman Water Retreat and even though it was quite pricey we decided to book it with a 3000 deposit However during the night of their arrival an unexpected snow storm hit and most of the island lost power We decided to move our dinner plans from our own powerless house to their retreat as ourselves plus two adults and two babies aged one and two joined the initial six guests that we booked for Afterwards in the guestbook at checkout everyone expressed their appreciation for the space they had been granted however Jan Stevens who runs both eastman retreats as well as Lazy Bowen Hideaway called us up accusing us of lying to her and charging an additional sum of 600 on top of already paid 1700 bill due to having 13 people sleep in her house which can only fit six It is worth noting that Jan Stevens does not even reside on Bowen Island but rather somewhere else such as Palm Springs or Nevada Furthermore her cancelation policy states that if you cant make it due to weather conditions or ferry issues you lose your deposit 3000 along with any day visitors being charged 50 per person without getting anything more than just saying hello We strongly recommend against renting from such a person who does not contribute anything back into OUR community while taking money away from it instead more ... hide ...
