I applied for a unit, as my kids wanted their first apartments. We have disability income and my son is working part time, so we spoke to Erin. When she noticed I was in a wheelchair, she said that she didn't want to waste our time and asked about our income. Then suddenly there were remarks about not having three units available; however, she still requested proof of our income. So I sent it over but then a week passed without any contact from her. I followed up with her and all she said was there wasn't anything available, even though the site showed otherwise. Due to being run around like this, I think it's discrimination based on both disability and income; my son's and my combined incomes are over 3k per month which should qualify us for a 1 bedroom apartment while my daughter would qualify for a bachelor with her monthly salary of 1685 dollars. She showed us an apartment with visible pipes in the dining area while the 15th floor had dangling lights from the ceiling which made me decide to follow up with the rental board to ask if this is considered discrimination or not and if I have grounds for filing suit against them.
We had the pleasure of living in a one bedroom apartment at Grid5 from April 2018 to March 2019, and only made contact with the admin office three times. We were planning on seeking a two bedroom apartment, but they were out of our budget; plus, it seemed like existing tenants weren't eligible for the same promotions as potential buyers. Over February to March 2019 we searched for other apartments/condos in Downtown and Beltline but ultimately chose Grid5 due to their high standards of upkeep (vacuuming/mopping of entrance, lobby, floors etc.), security features such as an elevator fob system and centralised air-conditioning. And even better was that our unit was painted before move-in so felt brand new; plus early move-in options and bath tub refurbishments were available. Additionally they have canine bug infection detection systems in place and host both Halloween and tenant appreciation events. The gym wasn't used so can't comment on that; however noise levels were low (either due to considerate neighbours or good insulation). The only drawbacks were that the swimming pool took too long to reopen after renovations, there were heating issues during winter because windows had gaps in them (though heaters did get provided) plus wWe had the pleasure of living in a one bedroom apartment at Grid5 from April 2018 to March 2019, and only made contact with the admin office three times.
